Alicia A. Hollis is a seasoned mental health professional with years of diverse experience serving children, parents, and educators across public, private, charter, urban, rural, and suburban schools in both Kansas and Missouri. As a counselor and former English teacher, she is passionate about supporting adolescents through challenging times and guiding individuals of all ages in college and career planning. Alicia is a strong advocate for children with special needs, especially in educational settings. She has assisted parents in securing 504 plans and IEPs and has authored many of these documents herself.
Following her time in the school system, Alicia pursued her clinical license while working under supervision at Crittenton Children’s Center. There, she served on the intake team and conducted biopsychosocial evaluations to assess inpatient psychiatric and PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility) admissions for children ages 5–18. Alicia collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, medical doctors, therapists, and nurses, gaining extensive experience working with highly acute cases and navigating complex family dynamics, including foster care, residential placements, child welfare services, and law enforcement.
Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, PTSD, learning challenges, child and adolescent development, trauma, play therapy, career counseling, racial and cultural identity, anger management, homelessness, at-risk youth, military families, and individuals involved with DCF, DFS, and DYS. Alicia brings deep empathy and a solution-focused mindset to her work, making her a trusted resource for families and individuals alike.
