About the Clinicians

Nicholas Bracken, MSW, LCSW, Owner and Operator- Licensed in Missouri, Kansas, and Utah Licensed

Nicholas graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Master's in Social Work.  Nicholas pursued mental health to help others.  Nicholas is passionate about helping people manage their daily lives, conquer their fears, and develop adequate coping skills and effective communication skills.  Nicholas has over ten years of experience in social work and has worked in private practice for several of those years.  

One of Nicholas's skill sets is effectively working with high-conflict cases, including divorce and/or mediation cases.  Nicholas is a trained mediator willing to provide mediation services if they arise.  Nicholas is trained in helping parents learn parenting strategies, supervising parent/child visits, and providing supportive and reflective guidance in becoming a better parent.  

Nicholas also works with individuals managing depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, LGBTQ+, and foster/adoption cases.  Nicholas provides Trauma Art Narrative Therapy, Client-Centered Focus Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and good old Talk Therapy.  Nicholas will work with children ages 9+ to our older folks over 65.  Nicholas has worked with various professions, including Fireman, Police Officers, Therapists, Doctors, Lawyers, and many others, while ensuring that anonymity is key.  

Nicholas is an approved LMSW clinical supervisor in Missouri and Kansas.  Nicholas also provides expert testimony regarding court cases involving family and children.  

                                                                     Alicia Hollis, LPC - Licensed in Missouri

Alicia A. Hollis, EdS, NCC, LPC, has years of varied experience serving children, parents, and educators in public, rural, and suburban schools as a counselor in both Kansas and Missouri at all grade levels, K-12. She has a passion for guiding adolescents during tumultuous times and facilitating college and/or career counseling. She loves to advocate for the rights of kids with special needs, specifically in school settings, but this is not exclusive. She has assisted parents with obtaining 504 plans and IEPs and written them herself on the other side of the table as a former school counselor and English teacher. Alicia's areas of expertise include: anxiety, depression, PTSD, learning disabilities/issues, children and adolescents, career counseling, racial and/or cultural issues, anger management, trauma, play therapy, homelessness, youth in DCF, DFS, and DYS custody, at-risk youth, and military families.

My ideal client is someone willing to be goal-oriented. Therapy is a two-way street, and we need to be able to listen together. I provide a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescents trying to figure out their place in society and for parents looking to connect better with their children. I am easy to talk to and very straightforward.

I am a husband, father, and veteran with leadership experience in corporate settings.                                                                                 Michelle Scharnhorst, LMSW - Licensed in Missouri and Kansas

Michelle works with kids and adults and specifically has experience in high-conflict and divorce cases.  She loves working with families to learn how to work through their anger and frustrations and support a happy, healthy home.  Michelle is excited to be part of Summit Therapeutic Services, specifically working in Kansas and Missouri and supporting the families that choose Summit Therapeutic Services.  Michelle loves to include the client in their treatment planning process and will work diligently to support their needs.  Michelle is under clinical supervision by Nicholas Simons-Bracken in Kansas.
